About International Sales

The Team

The core Sales and Marketing team at Intandem is Billy Hurman and Andrew Brown who together with CEO, Gary Smith have worked together for ten years. The team has experience of identifying finance for and selling films with budgets ranging from $3 million to $50 million including studio backed movies such as “Heartbreakers” which starred Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman and Jennifer Love-Hewitt and independent British hits such as "Shooting Fish" and "Last Orders".

How We Work

The culture at Intandem is to work closely with all parties involved throughout the filmmaking and marketing process. The success of an international sales campaign depends upon the co-operation of all parties involved including producers, agents and actors.

Pre-Production

From a sales and marketing aspect, we involve distributors from the script stage. We have a comprehensive database of distributors' preferences, which includes cast, director, genre, and levels of budgets.

When we are interested in taking a script through to financing, we approach selected distributors and discuss the script, cast and budget in order to generate interest.

THIS IS A KEY SERVICE TO THE PRODUCER AS IT PROVIDES THEM WITH A MARKET VIEW OF THE CAST AND COMMERCIAL VIABILITY OF THE FILM.

Production

We recognise the importance of obtaining powerful quality marketing materials. During production we work together with producers to maximise the opportunity to obtain elements which we can then pass on to our International Distributors to help them promote the completed film. (eg. electronic press kit (EPK) and special photos from studio photo shoots etc).

Marketing To Distributors

One of the strengths of the team is its commitment to powerful and effective marketing campaigns, particularly at Film Markets where a large proportion of sales take place. The team have been responsible for creating many high profile marketing campaigns including Shooting Fish, Divorcing Jack, Last Orders, Heartbreakers and Stoned. The campaigns are initiated in-house at script stage and the team works in tandem with specialist design agencies. The process occurs together with input from the film’s director and producer. The sales campaigns include the following elements:


  • Email teaser campaigns

  • Trailer or promo reel utilising selected scenes from the film

  • Advertising in selected trade magazines

  • Selected publicity in trade magazines

  • Poster advertising at major film markets (inc. Cannes & AFM)

  • Strategic sales trips to distributors in key territories

We receive continued input from international distributors throughout the production of the project, which helps to increase its profile and sales potential.
