And When Did You Last See Your Father? Pulls More Heart Strings at Edinburgh Festival [ 24/08/2007 ]Edinburgh International Film Festival round-up The Edinburgh International Film Festival had more than 120 titles to choose from this year, and it was gratifying how few duds there were. What made the experience even more engrossing was how so many connections between films emerged unexpectedly. Anand Tucker's adaptation of Blake Morrison's memoir And When Did You Last See Your Father?, Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth play a disconnected father and son confronting a painful past in Dad's dying days. It is almost unbearably moving in its raw, unsentimental honesty - and easily the highlight of the festival for me. By Marc Lee (adapted from The Telegraph 24th August 2007) |
