Father Finds Success at Telluride Film Festival [ 04/09/2007 ]

For fans of tear-jerker endings, there were a couple of wonderful offerings this year.

[A] film I liked in this category was "When Did You Last See Your Father" with Colin Firth and Jim Broadbent in the starring roles. It's a story about a middle-aged man confronting the impending death of his father (dying parents was a bit of a theme this year) and pulled into the inevitable process of life review and dealing with the skeletons in the family closet. It's a wonderfully touching film and probably the best performance by Firth so far. The cast included several of my favorite British actors, including Juliet Stevenson and Gina McKee. The director, Anand Tucker ("Shopgirl") was here to present the film had a q-and-a session with the audience.
