Intandem Signs Agreement for UK Film Council Funding [ 05/08/2005 ]

The board of the Company is pleased to announce that Intandem in partnership with:-

(1) Number 9 Films Ltd (whose producers between them have made Mona
Lisa, Scandal, Interview With A Vampire, The Crying Game and Ladies In Lavender);
(2) Film Four (the feature film division of Channel 4) and
(3) The Irish Film Board

have formed ‘The Number 9 Consortium’ (the “Consortium”)

The UK Film Council, as part of their Super-Slate Development Funding Award, has committed to fund the Consortium £300,000 per annum for the next three years for the Consortium to develop feature films.

The Consortium must match the UK Film Council’s funding. Intandem’s contribution to the Consortium will be up to £100,000 per annum.

The award will result in £1.8m being available to the Consortium over the next three years for the development of up to 20 feature films.

It is intended that Number 9 Films will produce the films on the slate in conjunction with various other selected producers. Intandem will act as an Executive Producer and International Sales Agent and Film Four will acquire the UK television rights. The Consortium is already in negotiations for four projects.

Twenty eight consortia applied to the UK Film Council for the award with only four consortia, including The Number 9 Consortium, being offered the highest level of funding.

Gary Smith, Chairman of Intandem, stated “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to be part of such an exciting and talented group of film makers. We look forward to developing and producing top quality, commercial films with international appeal. We regard this prestigious award as an important step in Intandem’s strategy of securing international distribution rights in film projects at an early stage, which we expect to result in a valuable film catalogue.”
