Intandem Adds THE OTHER SIDE To It's Cannes Slate [ 05/05/2006 ]

“THE OTHER SIDE” Press Release

Michel Shane and Anthony Romano (I,Robot, Catch Me If You Can) have combined forces with producers Diane Isaacs (And Starring Pancho Villa), Jory Weitz (Napoleon Dynamite), Kent Harper (Statistics), and David Michaels in a joint effort to propel “THE OTHER SIDE” into production.

“THE OTHER SIDE” is a highly original, twisted modern fable, “Beetlejuice” meets “Alice in Wonderland”, with Michaels’ own inspired imprint. Co-writing the script with Phil Reeves (Happy, Texas), Michaels will also make “The Other Side” his feature directorial debut. The material alone has already attached an all-star cast, including Brittany Murphy, Ryan Gosling, Tim Roth, Giovanni Ribisi, Lili Taylor, Jason Lee, Anjelica Huston, Jim Broadbent, Fiona Shaw, Rupert Friend, and Eddie Griffin.

London-based Intandem Films with principals Gary Smith, Andrew Brown, and Billy Hurman acting as executive producers along with Anthony Yohe, are working closely with Romano and Shane’s Hand Picked Films assembling the financing through a combination of equity, bank, and foreign presales.

In unprecedented support for a first-time director, Michael’s key creatives have either won or have been nominated for Oscars, Golden Globes, and Grammy Awards. They include cinematographer Peter Sova (Lucky Number Slevin, Wicker Park, Gangster No.1, Donnie Brasco); production designer Bill Boes (Fantastic 4, James and the Giant Peach); line producer Kevin Reidy (Hoot, Shanghai Noon, Ever After); illustrator Mauro Borrelli (Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Lemony Snicket, Sleepy Hollow); visual effects supervisors Sean Cushing and Colin Green of Pixil Liberation Front (Superman Returns, The Matrix, Fight Club); first assistant director Lisa Satriano (Aeon Flux, Flight of the Phoenix, Spider Man 1&2); editor Valdis Oskarsdottir (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind); costume designer Ruth Myers (Carnivale, L.A. Confidential); music supervisor Chris Douridas (Shrek 2, American Beauty); music composer Butch Vig (Garbage, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins); with musician Dave Matthews having already recorded original songs written directly for the soundtrack.

THE PRODUCERS have been actively packaging cast and keys prior to soliciting financing and distribution in order to protect the vision of the film. The producers are targeting a summer/fall shoot in Eastern Europe, England, and Ireland for a budget of $20 Million. Shane and Romano are counseled by Randolph M. Paul, Esq of Greenberg Traurig as Michaels, Harper, Isaacs, and Weitz are entrusted by Phillip L. Rosen, Esq of Rosen & Anderson.
